Which kinds of companies send free samples?
| Kind of company | What they tend to send | Best way to ask |
|---|---|---|
| Brands launching a new product | A trial size or sachet of the new item | Their sample form, which TrySpree lists as it opens |
| Small and independent makers | A sample, a sticker pack or a discount code | A short, friendly email or the contact form on their site |
| Brands you already buy | Coupons, often for a free full-size item | An email saying what you like and how long you've used it |
| Companies that sell to businesses | Product samples, swatches or a catalog | Their sample request page, with your business or school name |
| Nonprofits and agencies | Stickers, posters, booklets and kits | Their order or request form; most ship free |
How to email a company for free stuff
- Look for a form first.Check the company's site for "samples", "request" or "contact". A form gets you an answer faster than an email.
- Write to brands you actually use.A real detail, like how long you've used something, is what makes a company want to reply.
- Keep it short.A few lines: what you like, what you'd like to try, and your address.
- Be honest.Don't invent a complaint or a broken product to get something free.
- Use a separate email address. Companies often add you to their newsletter.
- Send one email per company. Following up once after a few weeks is fine; more is not.
A short email template
Copy it, fill in the brackets, and change it so it sounds like you.
Subject: A note from a happy customer Hi [Company] team, I've been using your [product] for [how long] and I really like [one specific thing]. I'd love to try [the new product or another product of yours] before I buy it. If you send out samples or coupons, I'd be grateful for one. My mailing address is: [Name] [Street] [City, State ZIP] Thanks for making something I use every week. [Your name]

What companies send free samples?
Mostly brands launching a new product, small independent makers, and companies that sell to businesses and schools. Big household brands more often send coupons than samples when you write to them. The surest way to find a company sending samples today is a sample form that is open right now, like the ones listed on this page.
Does emailing companies for free stuff work?
Sometimes. A short, honest note about a product you really use gets the best results, and the most common reply is a coupon rather than a sample. Small companies are more likely to answer than big ones. Expect many emails to get no reply at all, and never claim a problem you didn't have to get something free.
How do I ask a company for a free sample?
First check the company's site for a sample or request form, since that is what they want you to use. If there isn't one, send a short email or use the contact form: say what you like about the brand, which product you'd like to try, and include your mailing address. Keep it to a few lines.
Are free samples from companies really free?
A sample a company chooses to send you costs nothing. Some sample offers do ask for shipping, a purchase or an app download. Of the 20 open offers on this page, 18 are marked free with no purchase, 1 need a purchase, cash back or fee, and 1 have terms you should check.
