How to write a letter Santa can answer

  1. Put the full return address inside and on the envelope.Volunteers can't reply without it.
  2. Use the child's first name and age. Replies are friendlier when helpers know who they are writing to.
  3. Mail by early December. Replies take a few weeks, and letters that arrive late may not get one.
  4. Keep a copy of the wish list.Letters you mail away don't come back.

How do I get a free letter from Santa?

The most reliable free reply comes from Canada Post: kids send a letter addressed to Santa with the Canadian postal code H0H 0H0 and their own return address, and Santa's helpers write back. In the US, check for a Santa mailbox run by your town or library, or print a free reply letter at home.

Does Santa write back if you mail a letter to the North Pole?

It depends on where you send it. Canada Post's program has answered letters for decades. USPS Operation Santa is a gift-giving program instead: volunteers adopt some letters and send presents, but a written reply is not promised.

Can kids in the US write to Santa through Canada Post?

Letters from outside Canada need international postage, and Canada Post sets its own rules each year about which letters it answers. Read the program page on canadapost.ca before mailing.

When should we mail a letter to Santa?

Early. Most programs ask for letters by early to mid December so replies arrive before Christmas, and the exact cutoff changes each year.

Are personalized letters from Santa free?

Usually not. Mailed letters with your child's name and details are sold by gift companies. The free routes are the post office programs above, town Santa mailboxes, and printable templates you fill in yourself.
