Free Perfume Samples: Questions & Answers

Fragrance brands mail free vials to launch new scents, usually through a short request form on their own site, and those offers are listed here as they open. Beauty retailers also add free fragrance samples to online orders, and most department-store fragrance counters will make you a small sample to take home if you ask.

Full guide: Free Perfume and Cologne Samples. How to get perfume and cologne samples by mail or at a counter, what they cost, and live fragrance offers.

Free perfume and cologne samples on TrySpree covers designer and niche fragrance vials, scent strips, and travel-size sprays across both women’s and men’s fragrances. Fragrance houses give these away because scent sells on trial, and members post the offers here as they find them.

Each listing takes you to the brand or retailer running the giveaway so you request the vial directly. It’s always free and never needs a credit card. Popular fragrance offers go fast, so sort by newest and check back often.

How to get free perfume samples

Where free perfume samples actually come from

Fragrance is hard to buy blind, so the industry gives a lot of it away. Almost every free perfume or cologne sample comes from one of these places:

  • Brand sample forms. When a fragrance house launches a new scent it often opens a short request form on its own site and mails a small vial to the first few thousand people. These are the offers TrySpree lists, and they close fast, usually within a few days.
  • Retailer checkout samples. Big beauty retailers let you pick a few free samples with an online order, and fragrance is almost always on the list. If you are buying something anyway, always choose the perfume vials.
  • The fragrance counter. At most department stores and beauty stores you can ask the counter to make you a small sample of a scent you are curious about. Ask politely, ask for one or two, and you will usually walk out with a vial.
  • Birthday and loyalty gifts. Beauty loyalty programs often include a deluxe fragrance sample in the birthday gift or as a points reward.
  • Gift-with-purchase and in-box samples. Brands drop scent vials into online orders, especially around the holidays.

What is not a free perfume sample

  • Fragrance subscriptions. Monthly perfume boxes are a paid service, even when the first month is discounted.
  • Discovery sets. Small sets of every scent in a line are a good deal, but they cost money. Some niche brands give you a credit toward a full bottle if you buy one.
  • "Free tester" ads that want a card. A real sample never needs a credit card. If a site asks for one to "cover shipping", read the fine print for a subscription.

What to expect after you claim

Most brand vials are 1 to 2 ml, about 15 to 30 sprays, which is plenty to wear a scent for a few days and decide. They usually arrive in two to six weeks with no tracking, sometimes in a plain envelope. Popular launches run out quickly, so a closed offer is normal, and brands often reopen the same sample later.
